Here's an interesting article that discusses Jim Wallis and his book, God's Politics: Why the American Right Gets It Wrong and the Left Doesn't Get It

I've heard about this book for a while and have been meaning to read it, but have yet to pick it up.  From reading through the article, I have to say I definitely agree with a lot of Wallis' thoughts and views, and am certainly looking forward to reading his book.   Has anyone read through it yet?

I have skimmed this book. I think that Wallis does make some very valid points and says a lot of things you and I agree with. However, I do think there are some things he says you won't agree with and maybe goes too far on. Moral and religious issues do go beyond abortion and gay issues, but not at the loss of those.
He believes social reform issues change history, and uses the "war against poverty" as an example, but abortion is a better example I think. We need to be careful, because just any "social reform" is not necessarily a good thing. We need to be very careful about appearing politically friendly at the cost of the Truth.
It's a dialogue we should be having, however. I'll be very interested to hear your thoughts.

i just wanted to say wallis' book is a great read, pick it up. i think he does a great job at transcending the categories of left and right in a way that is closer to the heart of the gospel... i've read a chapter here and there, not all the way through though.
